About

Official author biography:
Courtney Worth Young is a hometown girl from Southeast Texas who loves to read and write paranormal and fantasy fiction for young and new adults. Musical theatre gives her the warm fuzzies along with ghost stories, urban legends, and anything composed by John Williams. She views her life as if it were a sitcom and secretly geeks out at the mention of George Lucas, Anne Rice, or JK Rowling. Courtney is a night owl with a day job and a self-proclaimed coffee aficionado. “After the Woods” is her debut novel.

I finished my first novel in November of 2011 during Nanowrimo but had the story floating around in my mind since March 2011. I decided to participate in nanowrimo with the hopes of having a finished draft and it worked! The fun part is editing which can sometimes be a daunting task! A sentence can always be manipulated. A paragraph can always be deleted. The hard part is figuring out which ones should stay or go.

I use to write daily when I was in high school. I found joy in poetry and loved singing lyrics I wrote to music but something happened and I stopped writing. Here we are 10 years later...and I am finally writing once again. I have several stories in my heart that are dying to get out. I hope you all find them as entertaining as I do. My characters are as real to me as my friends and family.

My novel is called “After the Woods” it is the first book of a saga. (saga sounds cool!) The plan is to write 3-4 books that continue from After the Woods. I find inspiration in the smallest things. Camping has played a huge part in my stories. It seems each time I go camping I have an epiphany. There is something about a clear mind and the wilderness that sparks my creativity. If I could camp and hike every weekend I would. I love writing to John Williams. While I write, I imagine the words as if they were a movie, helps me picture scenes, body movement and such.

I do not underestimate the power of communication. I love electronics. Harry Potter rocks my world. I secretly wish I were a wizard. I like haikus. I believe George Lucas is the real Jedi Master and think about his writing techniques often. I live in Texas. I enjoy twitter, it is my new addiction. Lets be friends

Special thanks to Curiosity Quills for the amazing opportunity and wonderful contest!
