Climate & Geography: Thirteen WIP

Monday, January 28, 2013
My friend, Sharon Bayliss is hosting a World Building Blogfest and I thought it would be nice to hash out some details of the next best project, Thirteen, an idea I have been wanting to write for some time but haven't allowed myself. One major project at a time! ((I have to keep repeating this mantra!))

After the Woods is my baby, of course, and having that novel published is numeral uno on my list. Since, I haven't delved too far into Thirteen and I am also a panster, I thought it would be nice to plan a little and what better way to start than with the World Building Bloghop!!!!!!!!!

Building 812Thirteen is set in New York City. The towering buildings over look the city blocks and cast large shadows in the afternoon. Unfortunately for the MC (Whose name is Thirteen), there has been tons rain. Wet slick pavements and water, tons of water, has covered the streets for weeks. The rain isn't constant. The weather is nice with cool springs, warm summers, and crisp winters.

Seasons actually exist in NYC which is different than where I live. Should be fun to write about considering we only have hot and warm down here in Texas.

I think that wraps it up for geography and climate. Thirteen will be an urban fantasy with paranormal aspects.

  4. Hi Courtney, thanks for participating! New York City seems like a setting ripe with worldbuilding opportunities. The sights, the sounds, the smells... :)
